Testing the Hypothesis - Part 1
1) The opportunity I want to pursue is establishing a high-quality restaurant that provides consumers the opportunity for a global, cross-cultural, and educational experience through innovative cuisines, speakers, and entertainment from around the world within each of its establishments.
2) The who of this opportunity would be everyone in the United States that would like to try or re-try different cuisines from around the world, educate themselves on worldwide issues, or simply have an enjoyable night out at a restaurant. The what is that this opportunity will provide high-quality, creative food while also promoting cross-cultural understanding and education of issues around the world that consumers might not otherwise be able to access. The why is because travel, food, and new experiences are things that most people greatly appreciate, bringing happy moments to their lives. Additionally, education is one of the strongest forces in changing our world today which I believe can be accomplished in at least some aspects through the culinary and entertainment arts.
3) I interviewed five people of various interests and travel experiences who all have experience in the culinary, education, or entertainment fields. I interviewed a student majoring in Film who works at a sushi restaurant, a graduate student studying Leadership Development and has traveled to more than fifteen countries, a nursing student who is traveling outside of the country for the second time this summer, a professor at UF in the College of Business who is also well-traveled and a priest, and a student majoring in Construction Management who has never traveled out of the country before. They all expressed that this is something very creative and that most people they know would be interested in. Most of them also suggested adding in pop-up shops in fashion and art within each restaurant to promote even more cross-cultural connections and education as well as opening up restaurants overseas as well. The professor and graduate student also said that the why of this opportunity is very important and suggested having the restaurant promote this through external activities as well such as funding education through proceeds.
I expected the amount of interest that my concept received in the interviews and it was helpful to gain the perspective of individuals from various stages of life and backgrounds regarding education and travel as well as get advised on ideas I had not even thought about.

Hey Thuy-Linh, what a great idea to test for the hypothesis, your concept is something very different to anything that I have heard before, so it is great to see something new that would bring people a lot of things that would improve their lives, such as the opportunity for a global, cross-cultural, and educational experience through innovative cuisines, speakers, and entertainment from around the world within each of its establishments
ReplyDeleteHello! I really love this idea since it also has to do with health and education like mine. Everybody needs to eat and it is a great market to hit. I have never experienced anything like this restaurant that you describe. I think it is very creative but difficult to attain it would need to be traditional and accurate. I support any reason to learn about different cultures.
ReplyDeleteHello Thu-Linh,
ReplyDeleteYour opportunity for cross-cultural cuisine, as well as information center about that culture is very unique and intriguing. As someone who loves trying new food from different cultures, a combination with an educational process about that particularly culture would make me enjoy the food even more. One thought I had while reading is the prices that costumers have to pay in order to enjoy this. Obviously there are going to be costs in order to create this cultural-rich environment in a restaurant, would this make the prices high where it'll turn away certain costumers?
